Yesterday we checked out @blvdmrkt , the new food hall on Whittier Blvd in the middle of Montebello. It's a really cute little space, in an old commercial building with an outdoor courtyard surrounded by shipping containers turned eateries. We tried the incredible chicken sandwich from @thechickenkoop and a refreshing dragonfruit sour from @alchemycraft -- but there's lots of other places to try.
Debs Park may not be a national park, but we gave it the national park treatment! We're very excited to announce the release of our newest printed guide, inspired by the iconic national park brochures. Inside you'll find info on the attractions, history, and wildlife of this beautiful urban wilderness of Northeast LA, as well as a detailed trail map on the back!
Walking through Pasadena one evening, I spotted this house which I'm convinced looks exactly like the Monster House from the animated movie. It's especially convincing at night when the lights upstairs are on--it even has a frowning roofline!

As places have reopened, we've been gradually updating our guides to reflect it. One wonderful example is the Audubon Center at Debs Park ( @audubon_debspark ), a nature center just across the canyon from the Southwest Museum with lush gardens, exhibits on the native wildlife of Debs Park, a community classroom, and a bird viewing area! It's a great place to start a hike up the hills of Debs Park.
In a sleepy corner of El Sereno sits @holygroundscoffee, an adorable cafe and garden with delicious coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Take a seat in the shady courtyard and be sure to check the selections from local artists! Currently open 7am-3pm on weekdays and 8am-3pm on weekends.
